Po Lin Monastery
A house was built by 3 monks to worship Buddha, now Po Lin monastery is a large temple on Lantau island. Giant buddha statue overlooking the monastery is an object of worship, and one of the most popular attractions in hong kong. On a sunny day, Lantau scenery is very beautiful .
Big Buddha 26 m (85 ft) high, a giant bronze Buddha statue is one of the largest in the world.
Because interesting to retreat, Buddhist monks in Lantau began arriving in the early 20th century. Po Lin or "precious lotus' monastery really developed as a place of pilgrimage in the 1920s when the Great Hall was built and appointed the first abbot.
